Laurent Perrier
Founded in 1812, Laurent-Perrier is recognised - throughout the world - as one of the finest of Champagne Houses. This success derives, first and foremost, from a clear determination to abide by long-established traditions: respect for nature and wine, dedication to quality, and strong and lasting relationships with all those associated with the company. It is also the result of the family's drive, led by Bernard de Nonancourt, to maintain the House's independence and values. Under his impetus, the House went through a rapid and amazing growth in which he played a key operational role in two fields, first in strengthening relationships with Champagne grape-growers and then building up a clientele worldwide.
Now more than ever, the Nonancourt family's values guide the Laurent-Perrier team, currently led by Stephane Tsassis. An independent spirit has always been the driving force behind the creative winemaking, which has led to a unique and highly successful range of champagnes. They are produced by a team led by Michel Fauconnet, chef de cave, and his predecessor Alain Terrier, who is recognised as one of the greatest winemakers in Champagne. The wines are unique not only because of the philosophy that has inspired them, but also for their style, flavour and consistency in quality, as one cuvee succeeds another.
Winemaker Profile
Michel Fauconnet first joined Laurent-Perrier in August 1973. His professional progress in production, where he knows all the jobs from doing them in the first place, led him to become Production Director and 'Chef de Cave', Laurent-Perrier's Cellar Master, a position held since February 2004. Michel Fauconnet took over from Alain Terrier, who retired after 30 years and of whom he was Executive Deputy.
For more than 20 years and alongside Alain Terrier - a man who was good at training and loved to pass on his knowledge - they created pleasurable wines based on solid know-how and building strong relationships with grape-growers. Michel Fauconnet has spent his entire working life at Laurent-Perrier and is dedicated to the company with whom he shares a passion for champagne and family values built on perfection and great expectation.
