Twin Islands
Twin Islands wines are made at the Nautilus Estate winery – a stylish modern facility at the corner of Rapaura Rd and State Highway 6 that incorporates a specialised Pinot Noir cellar and separate white wine winery. The use of innovative, locally designed, grape handling equipment and the latest international technology in presses and filters ensures the maximum potential of the vintage is realised as the grapes are transformed into wine.
Thermo-mass buildings and insulated tanks are used for greater energy efficiency and the winery is accredited by the Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand program.
Winemaker Profile
Winemaker and Winery Manager Clive Jones previously worked as an industrial chemist but the call of the grape was too strong, and after completing his degree in Wine Science from Charles Sturt University, Clive worked at Selaks for 6 years, before moving down to Marlborough to join Nautilus Estate in 1998. Since then he has completed vintages in both Oregon and Burgundy (with Domaine Dujac), which led to the development of Nautilus' Pinot Noir Cellar.
Clive is a firm believer that a wine's natural home is at the dinner table and he strives to create wines across all varieties that have texture and palate weight that make them natural partners for food.
